Melissa Cosentino, MSW, CDP :  Executive Director

Inspired by family and elderly neighbors at a young age, especially her grandma Mimi, Melissa knew she would someday work with seniors. She always dreamed of managing a senior living community. Melissa received her bachelors in Health Services Management focused in long term care and later returned to school to earn a Master’s degree in Social Work concentrated in mental health and gerontology to fulfill her career aspirations. She values her relationships with residents and their families, teamwork among our compassionate staff, and the ongoing opportunities to learn and evolve with the industry. She is fortunate to work in a culture where residents are celebrated and staff insist on respecting and maintaining dignity in every decision made.  Melissa is proud to be part of The Grand family!

When not at work, Melissa enjoys spending time with her husband and their two young sons. They have a volunteer nonprofit, One Dream, granting wishes to lower income seniors. Melissa is also a fellow of the Illinois Leading Age Leadership Academy and a certified dementia practitioner.

Bridget Simcox: Director of Sales and Marketing

Bridget Simcox is responsible for Sales and Marketing of The Grand.  She is always happy to welcome new potential residents to The Grand family!  Bridget has been in the Senior Living Industry for 12 years and enjoys it.  Her past experiences include Property Management, running a Women’s Boutique, and Natural Gas Broker.

In her spare time she loves to spend time with her 14 nieces and nephews, taking long walks and catching up with friends.

Tim Russell: Director of Dining Services

Tim oversees all of the dining operations at The Grand. Tim didn’t pick cooking – it picked him! At a young age, he was inspired by his mom who cooked for her 7 children. Tim was happy to lend her a hand in the kitchen any chance he got! At 13, Tim started his first job cooking pizzas. Years later he graduated from Kendal College with a degree in Culinary Arts. He’s worked in many restaurants and senior living communities and has been an executive chef over 20 years. What he loves most about working at The Grand is our friendly atmosphere and formulating relationships with residents and hearing their stories of their past.  Tim makes it a priority that residents are happy and satisfied and loves the appreciation and feedback he gets.

Outside of work, you’ll find Tim recharging on his boat on his lake in Wisconsin or in the woods on his four wheelers with his family.

Caroline Hempleman: Life Enrichment Manager

As the Life Enrichment Manager, Caroline is responsible for planning and executing all the events and activities at The Grand. The Life Enrichment office focuses on creating Purpose Driven Programming for our residents and community. Caroline comes to us with a background in anthropology and religion and has a passion for finding the intersection of where world view meets health and wellbeing. She believes the key to staying healthy is being active and involved, so she loves getting to work hands on with the residents to do that each day.

Outside of her work at The Grand, Caroline enjoys being with her family and friends, and spending time outside in nature. In her free time, she enjoys rock climbing and reading, ideally from the comfort of a hammock.

Ivy Bonilla: Business Office Manager

As The Grand’s Business Office Manager, Ivy loves nothing more than getting to greet and interact with residents, families, staff, vendors, and volunteers and ensure quality customer service to all. What she loves most about working at The Grand over the past few years is the close knit, strong, supportive team and building relationships with the residents.

Ivy has six years of customer service experience, troubleshooting all situations professionally and finding suitable outcomes to ensure satisfaction.

When not at work, the thing Ivy enjoys the most is to spend time with family.

Gerald Raap: Maintenance Supervisor

Jerry has always had a special respect for older adults; he took care of his grandfather who was given one month to live, but who lived on 7 years under his care.

His expertise is in remodeling, plumbing, building engineering, and roofs. Jerry brought his 40+ years of experience to the senior living industry three years ago.

When not at The Grand, Jerry is picking up extra shifts at another senior living community and cares for his 93-year-old mom each morning and evening. He is most proud of raising his two kids on his own, who are two professional adults today.
